The LOTAR Association is an NPO supporting the alumni and veterans of the IDF LOTAR (Counter-Terror) unit. The Association's mission is to constitute a body connecting the unit veterans, regular and reserve forces, and the community.
The association has set a goal to leverage the human capital of the unit alumni for the benefit of the unit, its people, and the common good.
The association was founded and is being operated by unit veterans and is registered legally as an NPO with the Registrar of Fellowship Societies.
The association works in various fields and some of the activities include:
- Supporting the unit's lone soldiers.
- Pre-release and civil preparation events.
- Establishment of an alumni network for professional and personal interaction.
- Aiding the unit with candidate detection and marketing.
Recognition and heritage events, commemoration of the unit fallen.
As a part of the vision of the association to support the veterans, it has set a goal to create an assistance program that would help integrate its members into academic studies. This will be forged as a scholarship program which will be given to selected members of the association with the purpose of relieving the financial burden.
In exchange to the scholarship, the receivers would commit to weekly hours of work in contributing either the association or the community.
